Tea photographed as stone

Nine dark nuggets of aged tea on a bare grey field. No colour, no props, only the surface of the leaf and the dust around it.

Nine dark compressed tea nuggets laid out on a flat greige stone surface under even light, almost no shadow

Why this shop is grey

The whole shop lives inside one narrow band of greige: paper, tile and type differ by a few percent of lightness and by nothing else. That band is read off the Yeezy lookbooks, looked at here from the outside as a visual reference; this shop has no connection to the label and speaks for nobody but itself. What the reference gives is stone, cement, undyed cotton, lettering shrunk to a whisper at the edge of the frame. Aged dark tea takes it literally, because a compressed nugget of leaf is already the colour of a wet stone floor. Nothing was tinted or brightened to make the two agree: the product photograph sets the interface, not the other way round. Animation is switched off entirely, so the loudest thing on the page stays the texture of the leaf.
